10/23/2012 - Basic day for mundane stuff like laundry in preparation for the trip back to Sydney.
10/24/2012 - We dropped the car at Brenda's place in Hobart's Sandy Bay and Brian took us to the airport. Our flight was around noon from Hobart airport. By the way, if you fly Jetstar (subsidiary of Qantas) in Coach/Economy and you didn't pick your fare correctly with the weight of your luggage... be prepared to pay dearly. We thought it would be just $15.00, but it was $15.00 per kilo and we were 7 kilos over. Ah well; live, learn, and warn others.
We caught a cab at around 3 p.m. - another warning here... schools get out around 3 so traffic is hideous starting at that time - don't arrive in Sydney then. The cab's top speed on the freeway seemed to be about 40 km/hr (school zone speed) and it took over an hour to get to our destination in Cabarita.
Chris met us when we arrived, we took a little to settle in and she showed us around the gated complex where they live. 2 pools, 2 tennis courts (2 courts each), weight room, and other amenities. Very nice complex and a great walking path to boot!
10/25/2012 - Since Mick and Chris work long hours as primary school Principals, we offered to make dinners while we were there.
We walked to the grocery store and passed a tree where 2 Lorikeets were busy eating nectar, verbally interacting with each other, and being extremely cute!
We explored the area of the grocery store, had a great lunch, found the Bottle Shop for some wines, and wandered back to the condo. Dinner was Gazpacho with Crab since the day was supposed to be quite warm.
We looked at some pictures from their travels in Australia and then we watched an Aussie TV show called "Rake"... great show and last of the second season so we will have to get the rest of the shows - it is very good! The description of the show is "A lawyer (criminal defense) tries to take up the most challenging and
disturbing cases that no one wants. His private life is not without
pickles." The 'pickles' part is an understatement! I think 'Deep Poo' would say it better.
10/26/2012 - Weather was quite 'iffy' today so we headed for the Cabarita ferry dock in hopes we could catch one into the city. It stated we needed to have a ticket before we boarded the boat and we had just missed a ferry so we decided to wander the area in search of a place that sold tickets.
The complex in the distance - according to Lee's phone - had a store that sold tickets so we headed there.
We hadn't eaten and found a wonderful place for brunch, asked in the store for tickets and found they were sold out. So we wandered back to the house and tried to catch up on blogging before attending the wine get-together at the complex and cooking French Chicken with Pepper-Spiked Polenta for dinner.
