10/28 - Sydney Hike (near Mosman) and the New Camper

10/28/2012 - Mick had a volunteer obligation today so Chris took us on their favorite hike.

We drove over the Sydney Harbor Bridge and through Mosman and down to Little Sirius Cove.

We started from Siruis Cove Reserve and walked around through Curlew Camp (an artists camp in the early 1900's).

Quite a different view of the city

Magnificent Trees!!!

We passed Bradley's Head and walked around via Chowder Bay to Middle head where, during the wars, the officers had to hike up to the Officer's Mess.  It had quite a view, but it was also QUITE the hike!

The gun emplacements are still there and you can see the harbor entrance - very strategic!

Glad we just came down these!

Then we headed up and over to Balmoral Park by way of some very steep stairs... going up would have been like a stair-master!

The trees and bear here are gorgeous... the day was overcast, but that took nothing away from the view.

We had our lunch and then found the path (an old trolley line) that Chris' friend said would be the shortest route back to Sirius Cove.  It ran through the Lawry Plunkett Reserve.

The path came out on a lovely street with pricey homes.

The gate shouldn't be open!

We passed through a park where teams were playing cricket and off to the side was this memorial - it was impressive..

Then we had an up and down hike through the streets to get back to the car.   This map does not have all the correct street, but I think it is close.  Purple arrow shows the start & finish.

Later in the afternoon, we took pictures of their new camper and watched as they took the camper off and stored it in their "garage".

A neighbor & friend helped them build a rolling platform to hold the camper.

Car fits snugly under.

It was a very good day!!!
