10/11 - Freycinet Hike: Wineglass Bay and Hazard's Beach Circuit.

10/11/2012 - Wineglass By and Hazards Circuit.

The weather yesterday was rather crappy, but today dawned bright and sunny!  We are off to Freycinet National Park to hike to the Wineglass Bay Lookout, hike down (and I mean 'down') to the bay itself,  wander the bay for a bit, wander over the Isthmus and then hike around the Hazard mountains back to the car park.

The bushwalk should take about 5 hours... Mostly Level?  Well, we'll see.

Trails are well maintained - here.

And quite steep... but we haven't seen "Steep" just yet.

Teetering?  Not yet.

Coles Bay is beautiful

Shelter from the rain - if there were any.

Bench NOT for lounging!

Right out of the rock... You GO, Tree!

Wineglass Bay from the lookout

The Isthmus from the Lookout.

Looks like a LONG way DOWN!

That way isn't an option!  Just a photo Op!

Ah, Wineglass Bay Beach

People had threatened that if we had our lunch here, we would be harassed by Wallabies wanting to share our lunch.  Not a Wallaby in sight!  Just a magnificent beach and frolicking dolphins.

Yep, that's a dolphin.

Dolphins moved with us.

The sound of frogs was loud...

This was a nice place... no mosquitoes yet

Another beach, but a nice one - no one there

We went into the bush a bit - can catch some views

The rocks are Amazing!

This lizard likes the sun.

Then we start walking around and UP!

The trail goes over these huge granite-like boulders.

Grass tree.
The parks are having a problem with a root rot being brought in by people - on their shoes.  Sad - it's been devastating to the vegetation.
Love the stone bridge.
For the last 45 minutes, we were 'plodding'... one foot in front of the other hoping to see the gravel path leading to the car park - AND the TOILETS!

We got there - 5 1/2 hours after we started and this cutie and her baby met us.

What a great day and what a great hike / bushwalk!
